Today, we want to share our latest project: Hope. We called it so because this sketch depicts a new beginning of a sort where things of the past remembered and better-yet-uncertain futures launched into. I drew her chasing a butterfly because I like the idea of us chasing our dreams. Always. But don’t ask us who dreams of butterflies, we’ve no clue, lol.
We had so much fun with this one because it kind of evolved by itself, as though each element of the sketch had a life of its own. I certainly hadn’t planned for my dancing girl to turn into a half-cyborg, and Isaia also had not thought those grey lumps of mesh in his background would turn into two giant robots. We also tried a new style, keeping the lines in so it looks more like a cartoon than our usual smudged paint style. I do love how it turned out. It took us a total of 18 hours and 30,225 brush strokes, but all worth it in the end!
Anyway, here’s how we arrived at the final sketch for those who care to know 🙂
Have a great weekend, everyone! Happy sketching and keep chasing your dreams!
