There’s something self-rewarding about transforming scenes into visuals.
Your mind registers the details from the text and a whole new world suddenly opens up in your head. You don’t only see it, you also feel the wind caressing your skin, hear the chimes of bells in the distance and the pebbles crackling as though the carriage was moving right next to you, smell the mud and the crisp morning mist… all you want is to share the experience, lay it all out in your sketch.
Yeah, we love drawing for stories. We think it’s an art in itself.
And of course we love the free ride to various adventures that comes with it 🙂
We had the privilege to draw yet another illustration for Daniel Ausema’s serial fiction ‘Spire City’. Below is the process on how we arrived at the final sketch. It took us about 6 hours (blame Isaia and his funky perspective, ha!) and we enjoyed every moment of it.
By the way, Season 1 is up. Grab it while it’s hot ’cause it really is an amazing world he has created.
Thank you for reading for the visit and have a great day!
