Our latest project was a book cover! It’s for Ciara Ballintyne‘s novella – ‘Stalking The Demon’ – which is the sequel to her debut ‘Confronting The Demon‘ released late last year, and second book in the Seven Circles of Hell series.
The cover took us a little over a month to draw. It was constant too, I remember working on it while waiting to get into the ‘Game of Thrones‘ exhibition, ha! It’s one of the more complex we’ve drawn, not only because of the many characters involved and the complexity of hell we wanted to portray, but also (and mostly so) due to the size of the canvas. It was huge, well at least for us and our machines (i.e. 4000px), so each brush stroke took forever to load.
One thing is clear: we certainly need to invest on new machines!
But it turned out awesome! Watch a little sneak-a-peek on the making of the coverart. We wish we could show more but the IPads kept dying on us when we recorded the sketch, so we gave up, ha! ‘Stalking The Demon’ is in final edits at the moment. It’s due out very soon, I think Ciara mentioned in her blog that it’ll be next month. I read the first draft too – love the world-building, it’s so beautifully written. We can’t wait to see it in print! It’ll be our very first print cover, so we are very excited! |
Ciara Ballintyne will also be exhibiting at the Sydney Book Expo this weekend, along with other fellow Sydney authors like Dionne Lister and Melissa Craig. We really wish we could come! Argh! But I’m going away this weekend and Isaia… well, poor Isaia missing out on these things ’cause he’s in Rome! Anyway, come say hello, if you’re going to the Expo! Grab their books and some goodies! They’re a lovely bunch of peeps. Ciara showed me the poster she printed a couple of days ago, I was so overwhelmed with joy! I took a photo to show Isaia, but so sorry it turned out blurry. My hands were shaking too much, haha. It was soooo wonderful to see it in a huge poster. Look, that’s Ciara’s mug on the top right hand corner and my shoe at the bottom, just to show you the size. It’s pretty big, right? |
Anyway, that’s it from us today. Enjoy your weekend, all! 🙂
